Jochen Berger studied food chemistry at the Technical University of Berlin. After graduating, he spent his practical year at the Landesveterinär- und Lebensmittelüberwachungsamt (regional veterinarian and food supervision office) in Stendal, Germany, and became a state-certified food chemist. Jochen Berger is currently working as a Key Account Manager at Ecolab in Muttenz, Switzerland.
Dirk Bleickert studied electrical communication engineering at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Konstanz from 1990 to 1994. After graduating, he was responsible for the development and the construction of electronic control systems at Sauter & Schmidt in Waldshut, Germany, for 12 months. For another two years, he was a developer of computer technology for Digital Equipment Corporation in Zürich, Switzerland. Dirk Bleickert is currently the Manager of Bleickert Hydrotechnik and is responsible for the development of technical products.
Dr Jörg Brunemann
Dr Jörg Brunemann studied chemistry at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University in Münster, Germany, and received his doctorate in 1988. After his doctorate, he worked as a Technical Sales Manager and later as head of Technical Department at Harke Pharma in Mühlheim an der Ruhr, Germany. He became the General Manager at Harke Pharma in 2007.
Stefan Dietrich graduated as a certified engineer from the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany, in 1987. He gained work experience as a Research Engineer at two different companies before becoming the Managing Director of and taking shares in Parsum in Chemnitz, Germany. Stefan Dietrich is an expert in fiber-optic systems for flow and particle measurement and their industrial application.
Gudrun Ding studied food technology at the Technical University of München/ Weihenstephan. She subsequently worked as a Marketing Assistant at IKA Maschinenbau in Staufen, Germany. Before becoming a Sales Manager at IPC Process-Center in Dresden, she was employed by Glatt GmbH in Binzen as an Area Sales Manager. Gudrun Ding has been responsible for the Business Development at IPC Process-Center from 2003 to 2017.
Dr Anne Ettner
Dr Anne Ettner studied pharmaceutical science at the Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. She obtained her PhD in Pharmacy at the Institute of Molecular Pharmacology, which is also situated in Berlin. Before working for Glatt in Binzen, Germany, she was head of the so-called “Performulation Lab” at Merck and Quality Assurance Manager at Capsulution NanoScience. From 2004 to 2009, Dr Anne Ettner was head of Pharmaceutical Development at Glatt. She has been deputy head of Quality Assurance and a specialist since 2010. Dr Anne Ettner is additionally responsible for pharmaceutical training.
Dr Pascale Gauthier
Dr Pascale Gauthier is a Pharmacist (D.Pharm) with various research work; a Master’s in Biopharmaceutical and a specific Master’s (DEA) in Pharmacokinetics. She achieved her PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology (“Rotogranulation process used for manufacture of spheres”) from Auvergne University in France. Dr Pascale Gauthier is in charge of Marketing and Design courses in the Faculty of Pharmacy of Clermont-Ferrand and was involved in several patents, international publications and conferences. Her researches are focused on modified release forms and pharmaceutical design correlated to various categories of users. Dr Pascale Gauthier is an invited speaker in various International Events and judging committees.
Ahmad Ghoniem studied pharmacy and biotechnology at Cairo University in Egypt. He will receive his doctorate in Pharmaceutical Technology from Eberhard Karls University of Tubingen in 2016. From August 2015 to October 2017 Ahmad Ghoniem was working in the Business Development for Glatt Pharmaceutical Services. Since October 2017 he has been working for tesa Labtec in Düsseldorf.
Dr Annette Grave
Dr Annette Grave studied pharmaceutical sciences at the Technical University Carolo-Wilhelmina in Braunschweig. After two years of work experience in a Pharmacy and at Bayer Australia Ltd. in Melbourne, Australia. She was awarded her PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology by the University of Hamburg. Dr Annette Grave worked as Project Manager for Pharmaceutical Development at Glatt in Binzen, Germany. She has been head of Pharmaceutical Development at Glatt since 2009.
Prof Dr-Ing habil Stefan Heinrich
Prof Dr-Ing habil Stefan Heinrich studied process engineering at the University of Magdeburg from 1991 to 1996. Before achieving his doctorate he worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Apparatus and Environmental Technology for four years. He became Professor and Director of the Institute of Solids Process Engineering and Particle Technology at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), Germany in 2008. His research focuses on particle technology, fluidized bed technology, fluidization technology and particle formulation.
Dr Michael Herting
Dr Michael Herting studied pharmacy at the University of Kiel in Germany. After his Approbation as a Pharmacist, he went to the University of Düsseldorf and achieved his PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology. He was a Manager of Technical Service (Pharma Ingredients & Service, Europe) at BASF SE from 2007 to 2011. Dr Michael Herting is a Product Manager in the Global Marketing (Active Pharma Ingredients) at BASF SE since 2011.
Gerd Hügel is a master electrician who worked in a pneumatic and electronics workshop for three years before transferring to machine commissioning. After another year planning the after sales deliveries, he started working in Customer Services. Gerd Hügel has been supporting clients with technical problems for 15 years now and works as head of the Service/ Hotline Department at Glatt in Binzen, Germany.
Dr-Ing Michael Jacob
Dr-Ing Michael Jacob studied process technology at the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany until 1995. Afterwards, he worked as Process Engineer at Glatt IT in Weimar, Germany for five years. Dr-Ing Michael Jacob was head of Research & Development from 2000 to 2007 and head of Process Engineering for the three following years. At the moment, he is responsible for plant construction at Glatt IT in Weimar. His specialties are research and development in the fields of spray granulation, coating and agglomeration, modeling & simulation and fluidized bed processing.
Christian Knopf studied process engineering at the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg and received his Masters degree in 2014. He gained his first work experience at AVA (“Anhaltinische Verfahrens- und Anlagetechnik”) and was responsible for process optimization, customer support, basic engineering of fluidized bed technologies and the development of a PAT system. Afterwards, he designed and optimized fluidized bed processes and developed a particle tracking algorithm. Christian Knopf works at Glatt where he develops plants and processes for continuous production. Additionally, he is an expert in the integration of PAT systems into processes with solid dosage forms.
Dr Peter Kolb
After studying chemical and process engineering at the Technical University of Berlin, he received his PhD from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. After his doctorate, he gained his first work experience as a Sales- and Project Engineer at Kühni in Switzerland. He subsequently worked as a Capital and Project Manager at Cabot in Germany. Dr Peter Kolb has been employed as a Project Manager at Glatt since 2009.
Dr Lars Leidolph
Dr Lars Leidolph studied mineralogy at the University of Leipzig and achieved his PhD in technical mineralogy in 2003. Postdoctoral he was working at IBU-tec advanced materials AG in different positions until 2013: innovation assistant, head of chemical engineering/analytics, head of advanced materials/sales and head of advanced development. Afterwards, he worked as a self-employed consultant for one year. Dr Lars Leidolph has been working as head of Advanced Powder Processing at Glatt Ingenieurtechnik in Weimar since 2014.
After graduating as an engineer in biotechnology at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Giessen, Dirk Leister worked in Pharma Research & Development at Hoechst Marion Russel in Marburg, Germany. Subsequently, he worked as a Product Manager at Mettler Toledo AG in Urdorf, Switzerland and in Business Development at Schenck Process in Darmstadt, Germany. Dirk Leister has been working as a Leader of Technical Marketing and Applications at Thermo Fisher Scientific AG in Reinach, Switzerland since 2009.
Dr Gabrie Meesters
Dr Gabrie Meesters studied particle technology and bio chemical engineering at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. After receiving his PhD, he worked as a Formulation Scientist at Gist-brocades and at Genencor International in the Netherlands for four years. Dr Gabrie Meesters then became a Science Manager for the Food Specialties Division also at Gist-brocades. In 1998, when DSM took over the Dutch company Gist-brocades, he was employed as the Corporate Science Manager (Formulations) and a Divisional Science Manager (Recovery). Dr Gabrie Meesters is also a part-time assistant professor at the Delft University of Technology.
Frank Meier studied electrical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lörrach, Germany, and achieved his Bachelor’s degree. After graduation, he started working at Glatt as a Project Engineer. He is responsible for software development, automation and validation, technical project management and SCADA development. Frank Meier has been employed by Glatt since 1995.
Dr Norbert Pöllinger
Dr Norbert Pöllinger studied pharmaceutical sciences at the University of Nürnberg-Erlangen and received his doctorate in pharmaceutical technology in 1986. After his doctorate, he gained seven years’ worth of work experience as a Research Manager at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology at Bayer AG in Leverkusen. Afterwards, Dr Norbert Pöllinger became head of Clinical Supplies (Manufacturing Department). He has been working at Glatt in Binzen, Germany, since 1995 and currently is head of Glatt’s Pharmaceutical Services.
Prof Agba Salman
Prof Agba Salman was awarded his doctorate by the Technical University of Budapest. At the moment, he is working as a Professor at the University of Sheffield, UK. His specialties are granulation and particle breakage. Prof Agba Salman is Chairman of the European Working Party on Agglomeration and a member of the IChemE Particle Technology Subject Group. He has written numerous publications, sharing his specialist knowledge on agglomeration and granulation.
Dr Axel Schiffmann
Dr Axel Schiffmann achieved his PhD at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Basel, Switzerland, in cooperation with the Technology Training Center (TTC) in Binzen, Germany. He worked as Laboratory Head for Formulation Development at F. Hoffmann La Roche Ltd. in Basel, Switzerland, for the following six years. Afterwards, Dr Axel Schiffmann became Group Head of GMP Manufacturing at Roche.
Dr Udo Schlemm
Dr Udo Schlemm studied physics at the University of Hamburg. Afterwards, he worked at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg. He is employed by TEWS Elektronik and has been responsible for the development of microwave sensors since 2001. Dr Udo Schlemm graduated as Dr-Ing in 2004.
Dr rer nat Dirk Schmalz
Dr Dirk Schmalz graduated at the Free University of Berlin and achieved his PhD in 1998. After his doctorate, he gained work experience at Geneva Medical School in Switzerland and at the Institute for Medical Physics and Biophysics in Münster, Germany. Afterwards, he worked as a Senior Technical Sales Manager in the Pharmaceutical Excipients Business Unit at Syntapharm in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. Dr Dirk Schmalz has been working as a Technical Director at Harke Pharma/ Syntapharm since 2007.
Jutta Schorge did her apprenticeship as an engineering draftswoman at Glatt in Binzen, Germany. She has been working as a technical author/editor in Glatt’s documentation department for seventeen years. She has been the Head of Technical Documentation since 2000.
Klaus Seidler studied process engineering at the Technical University for Applied Sciences and Arts in Mannheim. He gained his first work experience as a Project Manager at Environmental Protection UBP. After two years, he transferred to Glatt and worked as a Project Manager for nine years before becoming Head of the Service Department. Klaus Seidler is currently the Head of Glatt’s After-Sales Services.
Dr Karl-Heinz Seyfang
Dr Karl-Heinz Seyfang studied pharmaceutical science at the University of Würzburg where he also received his doctorate in pharmaceutical chemistry. After achieving his PhD, he worked in several fields in the pharmaceutical industry, such as quality control, drug registration, development of galenicals, etc. Dr Karl-Heinz Seyfang has been Head of Division (Pharma Services) at Harro Höfliger Verpackungsmaschinen since 2003.
After graduating in pharmaceutical technology, Lilia Sprich achieved her Master’s degree in mechanical engineering and international sales management at the University of Applied Science in Konstanz, Germany. She gained her first work experience in Customer Service at “Oystar Hüttlin”/Hüttlin GmbH Bosch Packaging Technology in Schopfheim, Germany. Lilia Sprich has been working at Glatt GmbH in Binzen, Germany, since 2010. First, she worked as a Service Engineer and is now currently the head of New Technologies (Innovation Center).
Knut Szemjonneck graduated as Bachelor of Arts in business studies at Middlesex University in London. Additionally, he achieved his diploma in management and engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. He gained his first work experience as a Product Engineer in the DRAM Marketing of Toshiba Electronics Europe in Düsseldorf and as a Sales Manager at Samsung Semiconductor Europe in Eschborn, Germany. Subsequently, Knut Szemjonneck worked as a Sales Director at Sikora in Bremen and at Jutec in Oldenburg, Germany. He has been working as a Key Account Manager at Tews Elektronik in Hamburg since 2013.
Prof Dr Markus Thommes
Prof Dr Markus Thommes studied pharmacy at the Martin-Luther University in Halle, Germany. After his traineeship in a pharmacy, he was licensed as a pharmacist in 2002. Prof Dr Markus Thommes received his PhD from the School of Math and Natural Science of the Heinrich-Heine University in Duesseldorf in 2006. Postdoctoral he was employed as a researcher at two different institutes. Prof Dr Markus Thommes has been an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics at Heinrich-Heine University since 2008.
Philippe Tschopp studied at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Basel, Switzerland and received his Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration and Economics in 1995. Philippe Tschopp was CEO of Pharmatrans Sanaq in Basel and head of Finance & HR in two firms in Basel. He has been Head of Glatt’s Pharmaceutical Services (Business Development) since 2012.
Prof Evangelos Tsotsas
Prof Evangelos Tsotsas received his PhD in 1985 and his right to teach from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 1990. Afterwards, he worked as a Senior Process Specialist at the Dow Chemical Company. Prof Evangelos Tsotsas has been a Professor for Thermal Process Engineering at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg since 1994.
Prof Dr Karl G. Wagner
Prof Dr Karl G. Wagner studied pharmacy at the University of Regensburg in Germany. He received his doctorate in pharmaceutical technology at the University of Tübingen in 1999. He obtained the Venia Legendi for pharmaceutical technology from the University of Tübingen in 2005. Prof Dr Karl G. Wagner established a new laboratory within the pharmaceutical Research & Development department of Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma in Biberach from 2006 to 2008. He was appointed as head of Laboratory within the group of new technologies and external cooperation afterwards. Prof Dr Karl G. Wagner is currently working as Professor for Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Bonn.
Prof Dr Bertram Wolf
Prof Dr Bertram Wolf studied chemistry at the University of Leipzig and received his doctorate in 1983. After his doctorate, he worked as a scientific assistant at the Department of Pharmacy, Biological Sciences and Psychology at the University of Leipzig. Prof Dr Bertram Wolf became Professor for Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Köthen, Germany.
Roland Zänker began his career as a machine technician / TIG welder at Glatt Systemtechnik in Dresden. Afterwards, he became a service technician for Glatt GmbH and travelled all over the world. In 2006, he transferred to the After-Sales Department and became the department’s coordinator. Since 2011, he has been continuing his work for the service department by preparing offers and writing quotations.
Klaus Zieger completed his apprenticeship as a state-certified electrician in 1990. Subsequently, he started working as a Project Manager at Glatt, where he was responsible for Glatt’s Automation Hardware. Klaus Zieger became Head of Automation Hardware at Glatt in 1999.
