The first TTC online workshop

On December 3, 2020, the first TTC Online Workshop “Learn Pellet Coating from the Experts” took place. In total, about 250 people from all over the world participated to learn more about pelletizing, layering, functional and film coating. To meet the challenge of different time zones, the online event was held once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

After a short welcome by the host Andreas Gottschalk, Head of TTC Technology Training Center, the moderator Philippe Tschopp, Business Development at Glatt Pharmaceutical Services, led through the rest of the program.

The theoretical part “Principles of pellet production & processing: pelletizing, layering, and coating” was presented by Florian Priese, Senior Director Drug Product at IDT Biologika in Dessau.
After the first theory, the practical part followed. In the Glatt Innovation Center, Robert Katic and Chris Bär demonstrated live how an efficient film coating of micro pellets with a bottom spray Wurster application works.

The event was rounded off by a presentation by Prof. Dr. Karl-Gerhard Wagner, Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn on “Preparation of multiparticulates using fluidized bed technology -Principles of drug layering and functional coating”.
